The Education Committee approved SB 1097, AN ACT CONCERNING SCHOOL NURSES.

The Education Committee met today and approved SB 1097, AN ACT CONCERNING SCHOOL NURSES.

The committee passed substitute language on the bill which includes requiring school nurses to complete a minimum 15 hours of professional development approved by local or regional board of education in each 2 year period;  and it also creates a special services endorsement for school nurses. 

The substitute language removes the requirement for school nurses to obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing within five years of qualification.

• Thanked the committee for moving this important bill forward on behalf of the school nurses.
