In February 2019, the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) Tuberculosis (TB) Program, in conjunction with the Connecticut Advisory Committee for the Elimination of Tuberculosis (CACET), released the Connecticut Tuberculosis Risk Assessment and Connecticut Tuberculosis Risk Assessment User Guide.  These tools are intended to help health care providers for both adults and children to identify persons at highest risk for TB who should be tested and treated if positive.  The DPH TB Program recently updated the Connecticut TB Risk Assessment to make the tool more helpful to school nurses and other health care providers in schools.

These tools were adapted from similar risk assessments used in California and Massachusetts and are meant to simplify the approach to identifying TB risk.  The User Guide provides additional information to address the most common questions about TB testing and treatment.  The TB Risk Assessment and User Guide replace the Tuberculosis Screening Guidelines for Connecticut Schools from June 2011.

We hope you find this tool useful.  Please share with other health care providers and colleagues.  Additional questions about TB testing and treatment can be directed to the Connecticut TB Program at 860.509.7722.
