Join us at the ground level to help shape and launch an innovative new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. We are seeking applicants for full-time Assistant Professor positions in our new BSN program. The ideal candidate for Assistant Professor of Nursing will demonstrate clinical practice knowledge and experience, professional productivity as evidenced by sustained excellence and innovation in their clinical practice, and service to academic, professional, and relevant community organizations. They will demonstrate expertise in baccalaureate nursing education, including experience in leading courses, programs, and/or tracks within a program. The faculty member reports to the Director of Nursing for this 10-month nursing faculty position.
Responsibilities:
The nursing faculty member ensures course student learning outcomes are met through assigned lecture content and nursing laboratory and clinical experiences. Additionally, faculty are responsible for course development, curriculum design, and assessment to ensure compliance with all curricular content related to industry and accreditation standards.
The successful applicant will teach courses in nursing in the classroom, laboratory, clinical, and simulation teaching-learning environments promoting high standards in academic achievement and integrity in assigned courses. Timely review of student work including reporting grades to students is expected. Documentation according to college and program policy will be maintained. Continuing professional development is expected and supported. Regular office hours for student support and development are required. Assistance with planning and implementing clinical and lab teaching and learning and support for adjunct faculty within course(s) is required.
All faculty are expected to actively participate in departmental and college committees, support student advisement, contribute to student recruitment and retention efforts, and collaborate with the Director of Nursing, nursing faculty and staff, and clinical partners to effectively deliver the academic program.
Candidates are expected to remain active in clinical or professional practice and contribute to the profession through publications, presentations, or other publicly disseminated work.
Required Credentials:
- A Master of Science degree in nursing
- Applicants with a non-nursing master’s degree must have a doctorate (PhD, EdD, DNP, DNSc) in nursing
- An unencumbered Connecticut RN License
Preferred Credentials:
- A Master of Science degree in nursing with a focus on nursing education
- A doctorate (PhD, EdD, DNP, DNSc) in nursing or related discipline
- Experience performing nursing program assessment and participating in program accreditation by ACEN
- Experience teaching nursing courses that include Health Assessment, Medical-Surgical, Maternal-Child, Pediatrics, Behavioral/Mental Health, Community Health, Leadership, and/or Research in Nursing
- Experience teaching and advising diverse nursing student populations in higher education or practice setting
- Experience with Laerdal simulation equipment is a plus
